Kameleon 8 Universal Remote

I think that the Kameleon 8 Universal Remote by One for All has that space-age look. It sports a motion-sensor, so that you can set it to turn on just by picking it up.

I’d like to get a look at that glow in the comfort of a darkened home theatre - you’d almost think it operated some sort of flying device/chopping board from the 29th century or something. DesignTechnica has a review up, and suggests that you don’t leave it on the floor, since you’ll turn it on and off whenever you walk by. Which sounds kind of funny but definitely is good advice if you want to conserve the battery life.

It’s fully customizable - you can actually rearrange your buttons. But it’s not a quick set-up job. According to DesignTechnica: “When you initially set up the remote, things can be a bit tricky. You’ll have to go through many button sequences to get to the setup menu; once you’ve reached it, the instructions occasionally are a bit vague regarding which step to perform and how to do it properly. Still, 15 minutes after opening the Kameleon, I was able to get it running with a few of my devices. Just make sure you read the instruction manual carefully so that you get it right the first time. Overall, though, the process is similar to other universal remotes, so if you’re used to this process, don’t fret.”

Don’t fret. Hmmmm. But if you’ve just got to have a Universal Remote, the Kameleon 8 is probably a good bet.

And it’s available at Amazon.
