Having once succumbed to pleas of, “oh, aren’t they just adorable! Can I have one, please, please, pretty please?”, all I can say is, I wish I had known about Gupi the artificial guiinea pig back then.

Yes, guinea pigs are adorable. They are also rather smelly, and very carefree about where they go to the bathroom. In fact, they can be looking at you with the sweetest look in their eyes, and meanwhile, they’re leaving behind an incredible trail of poop.

So yes, if I had known, I would have pulled out the plastic for Gupi instead of getting the real thing. You can call me heartless, but cleaning out that cage is no fun. (And if you believe that old “I’ll take care of it, I’ll clean it’s cage and feed it and everything, really I will, I PROMISE …” all I can say is, you’re a sucker like me, huh?)
