There are many noise cancelling and sound therapy machines on the market but what I love about this one is it actually adjusts its volume to combat spikes in noise volume around you. Do police sirens or train horns wake you up every night? This amazing gadget will instantly adjust itself to cancel out even blaring horns so you can finally get a peaceful night’s rest. Of course if you have teenaged kids prone to sneaking in past their curfew this gadget will also cancel out their noise as they tiptoe up the stairs as well. So if your kids buy you this for Christmas be suspicious—very suspicious.

“Using patented technology that adapts to its surroundings, this is the only device that detects harsh, unexpected spikes in ambient noise, and reacts within a fraction of a second to blunt the intrusion. One of 12 soothing “soundscapes” can be selected, such as rolling surf, gentle rain, a bubbling brook, a crackling fireplace, or a tranquil meadow, creating a serene acoustic environment that promotes relaxation and concentration. (All soundscapes contain random, complementary elements such as sea gulls or foghorns so they won’t become repetitive.) In its unique adaptive mode, when the background noise level jumps–for example, due to a passing ambulance or a neighbor’s party–the device instantly raises the volume of the soundscape to counteract the disturbance.”
